Collette Smith
My name is Collette Smith and I’m 17. I have been at St Saviours Christian Centre since I can remember and have seen a lot of changes over the years. It was on Sunday the 6th of April 2003 that I was baptised and gave my life to the Lord. I believed that it was time to let the Lord guide my life, and start a new life in which I could be devoted to Christ. Since giving my life to the Lord everything in my life has become a lot easier and changed for the better. I know that my God is always there for me and that whatever problems I come across in life can be helped and solved through prayer, and faith. I know that my God will look after me and protect me. He’s is my rock, and without My God I don’t know where I’d be; the guidance, love and support which He gives me is endless.

Throughout my time at this church there has been a number of different youth groups, and youth leaders, which have come and gone over the years. However they have all helped me to strengthen my relationship with Christ, and it was through the support of the youth leaders that I gave my life to Christ.

Over the past couple of years the numbers of young people at church have grown. The new work in IGI has brought new teenagers to Christ, and I know that the work in IGI will continue to grow over the years. We as young people are the future, and by sharing the gospel, the word can reach other teenagers, bringing more young people to Christ.

Well… think I have just about covered it all. Although it was a short testimony it gave a small insight into my life. Do hope it didn’t bore you though !!

Since becoming a Christian I feel that I’ve seen another look on life. I am more positive and determined to do well and my confidence has risen which has made me a lot happier in myself. Accepting God and Jesus In my life has been the biggest decision yet, however the best.

Now I have realised that before I was ignoring God, even though He wasn’t ignoring me. It was at this point that God has given me the skills to bring me closer to serving and worshipping Him. I’ve also realised that a gift of yours shouldn’t be hidden away.God has given us all gifts, we just have to learn what they are and practice them.

Thanks to the iGi team’s help I am now looking forward to my future and the journey I will taken through Christianity.
